Hello, my name is Ashwin Rajkumar and I am the founder and CEO of The Be W.I.S.E Initiative. Now before we get started do me a favor and picture what an Engineer would look like to you. Now bet you probably pictured a nerdy guy sitting behind a computer or maybe a strong construction worker, or maybe even a young energetic male CEO like Elon Musk. But did you ever think to envision an engineer with a strong female presence, probably not. Now don’t feel too bad that’s not your fault at all, it’s merely a societal stigma. However, this societal stigma takes away many opportunities for almost half of the world’s population. Although there is a solution to this epidemic and its name is The Be W.I.S.E Initiative.

Through the research that I have conducted I found that many women are picking

engineering as a major in college but them are later dropping out because they feel underrepresented at the college level. Showing us that not only are we failing to provide representation at higher levels, but we are also failing to provide exposure at

lower levels. As a result, I thought to myself that if we could nurture and develop a girls passion at a younger age maybe we could give them a sense of representation as they get older, thus giving them the ability to be successful in their future engineering career. And its at this very moment that The Be W.I.S.E Initiative was born.

W.I.S.E stands for women in science and engineering. This stem-based learning experience consists of a multitude of programs that enhances a child’s passion for science and engineering. And while this program does help our local community it is also very consequential to international affairs too because not only is this field a men dominant field in the United States, but it is also a men dominant field all across the world. As a result, here at The Be W.I.S.E Initiative we truly believe that this business will be to touch the hearts of so many children, thus bringing about a new change and an influx of new innovative ideas to advance the world.
